Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia or Indonesia University of Education was established on October 20, 1954 in Bandung, and was officially inaugurated by the Indonesian Minister of Education, Mr. Muhammad Yamin. It was formerly named Perguruan Tinggi Pendidikan Guru (PTPG) or Teachers College aimed at educating and developing the intellectual capacity of young Indonesian nation to make benefits of its new independence. Two main considerations for its early establishment included a growing concern for education during early period of Indonesia’s independence and an increasing demand for more qualified teachers for a more prosperous Indonesian society.
For one month of
teaching practicum, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia have been my home and
comforted my longing from my family. The most significant building for me is of
course the Faculty of Education with its vision 'to become a
leading and outstanding faculty in Science Education, Psychology, and Teacher
Education.'
One of the main duties
and function of the Faculty of Education under Primary School Teacher
Education Study Program (my major) is to prepare professional primary
school teachers, who are able to design, implement, evaluate, and develop
learning processes and systems in primary schools. The learning activities
include classroom lectures, responses, field observations, trainings,
simulations, and field practica.
